How to get a single-item price in about three minutes

Text us a photo of the item (or the Marketplace listing link). A photo tells us size, weight, and awkwardness better than any description.
Tell us both addresses and the floor and elevator situation on each end. Mention a third-floor walkup now rather than on move day.
Get your flat number. If it works for you, we schedule, often for the same day on weekdays.

What affects the price of a small move

Three things, in order: stairs (about $100 per flight when there's no elevator, because that's where the real work and the real risk live), distance (crosstown costs less than cross-county), and awkwardness, since a 90-pound sleeper sofa is harder to carry than a 90-pound box thanks to the hinged metal frame inside. Traffic, a chatty seller, or a slow elevator won't change the number. Flat means flat.

The math vs. renting a truck

A rental truck runs $30 to $60 plus mileage, fuel, and insurance, and then you're the one carrying a fridge down the stairs with a friend who "used to lift." That's half our single-item business. Send us the listing photos, the pickup address, and your address, and we'll text back a flat price and coordinate the pickup window with the seller. Pay-on-pickup arrangements are fine as long as you've settled payment with the seller directly. You never have to rent a truck or bribe a friend with pizza again.

Can you move my item today?

Often, yes. Single-item jobs slot between bigger moves, so same-day and next-day pickups are usually possible on weekdays. Text us a photo before noon and there's a good chance it moves today. Weekends book up faster, so a day or two of notice helps.

Why do stairs cost extra on a single-item move?

Because stairs are where furniture moves go wrong. Carrying a 300-pound fridge down three flights takes strapping, spotting, corner-by-corner navigation, and roughly triple the time of an elevator trip. We charge about $100 per flight when there's no elevator, quoted up front rather than discovered on your bill afterward.

What if my couch doesn't fit through the door?

First we try the usual tricks: legs off, cushions off, angling it through on the diagonal. If the geometry truly says no, we can take a door off its hinges, and as a last resort there's hoisting, which means lifting the piece through a window or over a balcony, typically $400 to $900. Measure your doorway and the item before booking and we'll flag any tight fits in advance.
